The Second Mix: Tone

So the song's been recorded. You've set your levels and applied some compression. Now what? I like to spend the second hour of the mix adjusting the tone of my tracks. 90% of this stage will involve applying various EQ cuts, but there might be a boost here or there, and there might even be a need for a little distortion, though that might not happen until the third hour of the mix, which we'll talk about next month.
