The Third Mix: Sweetening

About 80% of a mix's overall sound (levels and tone) will emerge in the first 20% of the total time I spend on that mix. The last 80% of that time is usually spent using special effects and advanced techniques to take the mix from good to great in a process called "sweetening."

Because it requires active listening and imagination, sweetening is the most creative phase of the mix for a bedroom producer.
